In rather exciting news in the world of Oracle databases, Oracle today announced the availability of Oracle Database 23c Free Developer Release.

Oracle Database 23c Free Developer Release is available for download as a Docker Image, VirtualBox VM, or Linux RPM installation file, without requiring a user account or login. A Windows version is planned to follow shortly.

This is a nice change by Oracle, giving initial access to a new version of an Oracle Database specifically to the developer community. And importantly of course, it’s FREE !!

And 23c will be an important database release, with it being the next Long-Term Support Oracle database release. So a big well done to Gerald Venzl and the team at Oracle for making the early availability of 23c possible in this way.

For more information including a list of some of the cool new features available, you can visit the official Oracle Database 23c Free Developer Announcement Page.

I’ll of course be writing a series of Oracle 23c indexing new features related articles in due course.  So stay tuned… 🙂
